Deniz Gamze Ergüven is a Turkish-French film director. She was born on 4 June 1978 in Ankara, Turkey, and moved to France in the 1980s. She trained at La Fémis and graduated in 2008.

Her debut feature *Mustang* (2015), which she co-wrote, premiered in the Directors' Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival.
