Dennis Lipscomb (1 March 1942 – 30 July 2014) was an American actor. He earned an engineering degree from Clarkson University and trained as a Shakespearean stage actor, appearing in Broadway productions including *Romeo and Juliet* (1977) and *Night and Day* (1979).

His first feature film was *Union City* (1980). He appeared in supporting roles in films including *WarGames* (1983) as Watson, *A Soldier's Story* (1984), *Crossroads* (1986), *The First Power* (1990) and *Under Siege* (1992). On television he had a recurring role as the mayor of Sparta, Mississippi in the first season of *In the Heat of the Night* (1988) and guest-starred in series such as *Wiseguy*, *ER* and *The X-Files*.
