Dennis McCarthy is an American composer of television and film scores. Born on 3 July 1945, he has contributed music to numerous series and films, with extensive work on the Star Trek franchise.

McCarthy composed music for 77 episodes of *Star Trek: Deep Space Nine* (1993–99), for which he wrote the main title theme and won a Primetime Emmy Award. He also scored episodes of *Star Trek: The Next Generation*, *Star Trek: Voyager* and *Star Trek: Enterprise*, as well as the feature film *Star Trek: Generations* (1994). His other television credits include *MacGyver*, *Dawson's Creek* and *Dynasty*.

McCarthy has received 18 ASCAP awards and nine additional Emmy nominations for his Star Trek work. He has also composed for stage productions and produced the album *Ol' Yellow Eyes Is Back* by Brent Spiner.
