Dennis L. Smith is an American television director, cinematographer and former camera operator.

He began his career as a news photojournalist for ABC and later worked as a camera operator on films including *Stir Crazy* (1980), *Revenge of the Nerds* (1984), *License to Drive* (1988) and *Home Alone* (1990). He served as cinematographer on the series *Picket Fences*, on which he made his directorial debut, and *The Practice*.

Smith has directed episodes of series including *Boston Legal* (2004), *JAG* (2002), *Numb3rs* (2005), *The Vampire Diaries* (2010), *Fringe* (2009), *NCIS*, *Person of Interest* (2011), *NCIS: Los Angeles* and *Station 19* (2018).
