Dennis Spooner (1 December 1932 – 20 September 1986) was an English television writer and script editor. He began his career contributing comedy material and writing episodes for series including *Coronation Street* before moving into drama and science-fiction scripting.

Spooner wrote for *The Avengers* (1961) from its early years and served as script editor on *Doctor Who* (1963) during the William Hartnell era, also contributing stories such as *The Reign of Terror* and *The Time Meddler*. He had extensive collaborations with ITC Entertainment, working on series including *Thunderbirds* (1965), *UFO* (1970), *The New Avengers* (1976) and *The Professionals* (1977), often alongside producers and writers such as Monty Berman, Brian Clemens and Terry Nation.
