## Biography

Dennis Watlington is an American writer, producer and actor. Born in 1952 in Harlem, Manhattan, New York City, he appeared as the cab driver in the film *The Deer Hunter* (1978).

Watlington has written for documentaries and television, including an episode of the series *The Untold West* (1993), for which he received a Primetime Emmy Award. He wrote and produced *In the Name of Democracy: America's Conscience, a Soldier's Sacrifice* (2009) and the documentary *Zahira: 'la que florece'* (2004). He is the author of the memoir *Chasing America: Notes from a Rock 'n' Soul Integrationist* (2006).

His play *Bullpen* was performed in a reading at the Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut, during the 1988–1989 season.
