Derek Hinkey is a Native American actor of the Fort McDermitt Paiute and Shoshone Tribes. From Nevada, he began his career as a professional boxer with a record of nine wins and three losses before transitioning to acting around 2020. He has also worked as a model and stuntman.

Hinkey is known for his roles as Hank Spears in the 2025 film *Americana*, Papago Scout in *Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1* (2024), Red Feather in the 2025 series *American Primeval*, and Sheldon 'Shorty' Bowlegs in season three of *Dark Winds* (2025). He has appeared in other television series including *Walker: Independence* and *Django*.
