Derek Kolstad is an American screenwriter and film producer. He was born on 4 April 1974 in Madison, Wisconsin, and studied business administration at Taylor University in Indiana before moving to California to pursue screenwriting.

He sold his first script, *Acolyte*, in 2012. Earlier credits include *One in the Chamber* (2012) and *The Package* (2013). Kolstad wrote the screenplay for *John Wick* (2014), originally titled *Scorn*, which he sold to Thunder Road Pictures; the title was changed at the suggestion of star Keanu Reeves. He also wrote *John Wick: Chapter 2* (2017) and contributed to later entries in the franchise as well as the screenplay for *Nobody* (2021).
