## Biography

Derek Lee Thompson is an American animator, storyboard artist and writer. He studied at the Art Institute of Boston, where he completed an internship at the animation studio Olive Jar, before attending the California Institute of the Arts. A year into his studies he was hired as a trainee by Warner Bros., later working as an animator on features including *The Iron Giant* (1999).

Thompson has worked extensively in television animation. On *Phineas and Ferb* (2007–), he served as a writer, storyboard artist, assistant director and timing director. He received two Primetime Emmy nominations for his contributions to the series. His other credits include storyboard work on *Hamster & Gretel* and directing on *The Boys Presents: Diabolical* (2022), which he co-directed with his wife Crystal Chesney.
