Born in Chicago, Illinois, he grew up partly in Houston, Texas, before returning to Chicago to study at The Theatre School at DePaul University, where he earned a BFA in theatre. Borges began his career in Chicago theatre. He originated the role of Mace in Kristoffer Diaz’s play *The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity* (2010), winning a Joseph Jefferson Award. He later appeared in the production in Los Angeles and Off-Broadway. He is best known for playing Edgar Quintero, a veteran with PTSD, in the FX/FXX series *You're the Worst* (2014–2019).
