## Biography

Desreta Jackson is a Virgin Islander actress, producer and entrepreneur. She was born in Tortola in the British Virgin Islands and moved to the United States as a child, settling in Los Angeles.

Jackson made her screen debut as Young Celie in Steven Spielberg’s 1985 film *The Color Purple*. She later appeared as Teenage Girl #1 in the 1992 comedy *Sister Act*. After early roles in film and television, she moved into producing and directing, creating series such as *The Desreta Jackson Show* and *California Soul TV Show*.

She is the founder of the Black Silk hair products line and has received awards including a 2011 Prestige Award for her contribution to African American history.
