## Biography

Dewey Dallas Martin (8 December 1923 – 9 April 2018) was an American film and television actor. Born in Katemcy, Texas, he served as a fighter pilot in the United States Navy during the Second World War before entering the theatre in 1946. His screen debut was an uncredited role in *Knock on Any Door* (1949).

Martin appeared in *The Thing from Another World* (1951) and co-starred with Kirk Douglas in *The Big Sky* (1952). Further film roles included *The Desperate Hours* (1955), *Land of the Pharaohs* (1955) and *The Longest Day* (1962). He worked extensively in television, with guest appearances in series such as *The Twilight Zone* (1960), *The Outer Limits* (1965) and *Hawaii Five-O* (1969). He was married to singer Peggy Lee from 1956 to 1958.
