## Biography

DeWitt Bodeen was an American screenwriter and television writer. Born Homer DeWitt Bodeen on 25 July 1908 in Fresno, California, he began his career as a stage actor and playwright, writing more than twenty plays before entering the film industry in the late 1930s.

Bodeen worked at RKO Pictures, where his screenwriting credits included *Cat People* (1942), *The Seventh Victim* (1943), *The Curse of the Cat People* (1944), *The Enchanted Cottage* (1945), *I Remember Mama* (1948) and *Billy Budd* (1962). He also wrote for anthology television series in the 1950s. In later years he authored books on film history. He died on 12 March 1988 in Los Angeles, California.
