## Biography

Dick Foran (1910–1979) was an American actor and singer. Born John Nicholas Foran in Flemington, New Jersey, the son of a state senator, he attended Princeton University before entering films. Initially billed as Nick Foran, he signed with Fox in 1934 and moved to Warner Bros. the following year, where his name was changed to Dick Foran and he was cast in musical Westerns.

He appeared in supporting roles in dramatic pictures such as *The Petrified Forest* (1936) and *Four Daughters* (1938), playing Ernest in the latter. Foran worked at Universal from the late 1930s in a range of genres, including horror films like *The Mummy's Hand* (1940), and later took roles in television series including *Perry Mason* and *Gunsmoke*. One of his final screen appearances was in *Donovan's Reef* (1963).
