## Biography

Dino De Laurentiis (also credited as Agostino De Laurentiis) was an Italian film producer. Born in Torre Annunziata, Italy, he began his career in the late 1930s and produced his first film in 1941. He formed a partnership with Carlo Ponti in the early 1950s, through which they produced several Italian neorealist films.

De Laurentiis produced or co-produced hundreds of films across Italy and later the United States, where he became a naturalised citizen. His credits include *Europa '51* (1952) and *Serpico* (1973). He also produced or executive-produced *La Strada* (1954), *Nights of Cabiria* (1956), *Conan the Barbarian* (1982), *Blue Velvet* (1986) and the *Hannibal* films. He received the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award in 2001 and died in Beverly Hills, California, in 2010.
