## Biography

Dirk Brossé is a Belgian composer and conductor. Born on 18 February 1960, he studied at the Royal Conservatories of Ghent and Brussels, and undertook conducting studies in Maastricht, Vienna and Cologne. He is emeritus professor of composition and conducting at the School of Arts / Royal Conservatory of Music in Ghent.

Brossé has composed extensively for cinema, television and stage. His score for the BBC/HBO series *Parade's End* (2012) was nominated for an Emmy Award. Other film scores include *Daens* (1992), *Koko Flanel* (1990) and *The Lovers* (2015). He has written over 200 concert works, oratorios and musicals, and has conducted many orchestras worldwide, including the London Symphony Orchestra. In 2013 he was elevated to Belgium’s hereditary nobility with the personal title of Knight.
