## Biography

Domenico Scala (1903–1989) was an Italian cinematographer. Born in Turin, he began working in the film industry in the 1920s as a camera assistant during the silent era and became a chief cinematographer from 1931.

He was credited on more than sixty films. Scala shared the cinematography duties with Aldo Tonti on Luchino Visconti's *Ossessione* (1943). His other credits include *Sunday in August* (1950) and numerous productions from the 1930s to the 1960s.
