## Biography

Don Brodie was an American actor. Born Donald Ellis Brodie on 29 May 1904 in Cincinnati, Ohio, he died on 8 January 2001 in Los Angeles, California. He began his career on stage, performing with Cincinnati's Civic Repertory Theater for nine years before signing a film contract with Universal Pictures in 1931.

Brodie appeared in more than 250 film and television productions, usually in uncredited bit parts. His credits include voice work as a carnival barker in the Disney animated feature *Pinocchio* (1940) and a used-car salesman in the film noir *Detour* (1945). He also contributed to *The Great Dictator* (1940), *Harvey* (1950) and television series such as *Murder, She Wrote* and *Get Smart*.

In addition to acting, Brodie worked as a dialogue director and directed the 1944 feature *A Fig Leaf for Eve*. He was married to Lucille I. Becker.
