## Biography

Don Crosby (born George Wallace Donald Crosby) was an Australian actor and radio producer. He trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and worked extensively in stage, radio, television and film from the 1940s onwards.

His film credits include *The Picture Show Man* (1977), *Newsfront* (1978), *Little Boy Lost* (1978) and *The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith* (1978), in which he played Jack Newby. He was nominated for Australian Film Institute awards for best supporting actor for his roles in *Newsfront* and *The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith*.

Crosby was president of Actors Equity of Australia from 1976 until his death. He was awarded the Order of Australia Medal in 1980 for services to the media and theatre, and received the Australian Film Institute's Raymond Longford Award in 1985.
