## Biography

Don Donahue (1942–2010) was an American comic book publisher who founded Apex Novelties, one of the pioneering imprints of the underground comix movement in the late 1960s.

In 1968 he published the first issue of Robert Crumb's *Zap Comix* after trading equipment with poet Charles Plymell. Apex Novelties went on to issue numerous titles by Crumb and other artists including S. Clay Wilson, Art Spiegelman and Spain Rodriguez. Donahue and his partner Susan Goodrick co-edited the 1974 anthology *The Apex Treasury of Underground Comics*.

He appeared as himself in the 1994 documentary *Crumb*, discussing the cartoonist's career and milieu.
