## Biography

Don Henderson was an English actor of stage, television and film. Born in Leytonstone, London, he worked as a dental technician in the army and as a detective sergeant with the Essex constabulary before turning to acting in his thirties.

He trained with the Royal Shakespeare Company and became known for tough-guy and authority roles. Henderson played detective George Bulman across three Granada series from 1976 to 1987: *The XYY Man*, *Strangers* and *Bulman*. Other credits include General Tagge in *Star Wars* (1977), Gavrok in *Doctor Who* (1987), and the Rogue Simulant in the *Red Dwarf* episode "Beyond a Joke" (1997). He also appeared in *Brazil* (1985), *The Adventures of Baron Munchausen* (1988) and *Cracker* (1993).

Henderson was married to actress Shirley Stelfox from 1979 until his death from throat cancer on 22 June 1997.
