## Biography

Don Houghton was a British television screenwriter and producer. Born in Paris to Scottish parents, he began writing for radio in 1951 and moved into film and television in 1958.

He wrote the *Doctor Who* serials *Inferno* (1970) and *The Mind of Evil* (1971). In the 1970s he was a primary writer for Hammer Films, with credits including *Dracula A.D. 1972* (1972), *The Satanic Rites of Dracula* (1973) and *The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires* (1974). Houghton created and wrote for the soap opera *Take the High Road* (1980) and contributed to series including *The Professionals* (1977) and *Sapphire & Steel*.
