## Biography

Donald George Ingalls (29 July 1918 – 10 March 2014) was an American screenwriter and television producer. Born in Humboldt, Nebraska, he served as a bomber pilot in the United States Army Air Forces during the Second World War before joining the Los Angeles Police Department, where he met Gene Roddenberry.

Over a career of more than 35 years, Ingalls wrote scripts for numerous television series, including *Adam-12*, *Bonanza*, *The Big Valley*, *Fantasy Island*, *Gunsmoke*, *Have Gun – Will Travel*, *Honey West*, *Police Story*, *Star Trek* and *The Virginian*. He also worked as a producer on series such as *Fantasy Island* and *T. J. Hooker*, and wrote the screenplay for the film *Airport 1975* (1974). For *Star Trek*, he wrote the episode "The Alternative Factor" and provided the story for "A Private Little War", which he credited under the pseudonym Jud Crucis after revisions by Roddenberry.
