## Biography

Don Schain was an American producer, director and writer. Born in New Jersey in 1941, he graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and began his career in the early 1970s, directing and writing a series of low-budget exploitation films including the Ginger trilogy.

In the 1990s Schain moved to Utah, where he produced numerous family-oriented television films for the Disney Channel. His credits include *High School Musical* (2006), *High School Musical 2* (2007), *Read It and Weep* (2006), *Halloweentown High* (2004) and *Return to Halloweentown* (2006). He also served as unit production manager or line producer on several of these and other projects such as *The World's Fastest Indian* (2005) and *Frozen* (2010).

Schain was the first president of the Motion Picture Association of Utah. He died in Salt Lake City in 2015.
