## Biography

Donald Cotton was a British writer for radio, television and the stage. Born in Shardlow, Derbyshire, he studied at the University of Nottingham before training at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. His early work included musical revues and radio plays for the BBC Third Programme, often drawing on classical themes.

He wrote two serials for *Doctor Who*: *The Myth Makers* (1965) and *The Gunfighters* (1966). He also contributed to the creation of *Adam Adamant Lives!* (1966) and later novelised his *Doctor Who* stories, as well as Dennis Spooner’s *The Romans*, for Target Books in the 1980s. Cotton died in Sussex in 1999.
