## Biography

Donna Zakowska is an American costume designer for film, television and theatre. Born in Brooklyn in 1954, she studied at Barnard College, the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and the Yale School of Drama.

She began her career as an assistant on Woody Allen films and as a designer for the Big Apple Circus, where she worked for nine seasons, as well as on a Mick Jagger concert tour. Zakowska has collaborated frequently with director John Turturro. Her credits include *Crimes and Misdemeanors* (1989), *New York Stories* (1989), *Kate & Leopold* (2001), *The Iceman* (2012), *Gringo* (2018) and *The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel* (2017–2023).

She was head costume designer on the HBO miniseries *John Adams* (2008), for which she received a Costume Designers Guild Award in 2008 and a Primetime Emmy Award in 2009. She later designed for the AMC series *Turn: Washington's Spies* (2014–2017) and received further Emmy Awards and nominations for *The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel*.
