## Biography

Doon Mackichan is a British actress, comedian and writer. Born Sarah Doon Mackichan on 7 August 1962 in London, she studied drama at the University of Manchester.

She co-created, wrote and performed in the sketch series *Smack the Pony* (1999–2003, 2017). Mackichan has frequently collaborated with Armando Iannucci, Steve Coogan and Chris Morris, appearing in *The Day Today* (1994), *Brass Eye* (1997, 2001) and Alan Partridge programmes. She played Jane Plough in *Toast of London* (2013–2015), Flavia in *Plebs* (2013–2018) and Cathy in *Two Doors Down* (2016–2025).

Mackichan was nominated for a BAFTA Television Award for Best Female Comedy Performance for *Plebs* in 2014 and won the BAFTA for Best Actress Television for *Two Doors Down* in 2024. On stage, she appeared in *Bitter Wheat* (2019) opposite John Malkovich.
