## Biography

Doug Richardson is an American screenwriter and novelist. He attended the USC School of Cinematic Arts and later received a two-year contract with Warner Brothers. His first major feature credit was the screenplay for *Die Hard 2* (1990), co-written with Steven E. de Souza and adapted from the novel *58 Minutes*.

Richardson went on to write screenplays for *Bad Boys* (1995), *Money Train* (1995) and *Hostage* (2005). He is noted as the first Hollywood writer to sell a spec screenplay for one million dollars, in partnership with Rick Jaffa. He has also written several novels and the nonfiction book *The Smoking Gun: True Tales from Hollywood's Screenwriting Trenches* (2015). He served as executive producer and story writer on *Welcome to Mooseport* (2004).
