## Biography

Douglas Rae is a Scottish film and television producer. Born in Edinburgh on 22 June 1947, he began his career in journalism before presenting the children's television series *Magpie* for Thames Television from 1971 to 1977.

In 1988 Rae founded the production company Ecosse Films. His film credits as producer include *Mrs Brown* (1997), *Becoming Jane* (2007), *The Water Horse* (2007), the BAFTA-nominated *Nowhere Boy* (2009), *Black Death* (2010), *Diana* (2013) and *The Great Escaper* (2023). Television productions include the BBC series *Monarch of the Glen* and *Mistresses*.
