## Biography

Dwight Taylor (1903–1986) was an American playwright, screenwriter and author. The son of actress Laurette Taylor, he attended Lawrenceville School in New Jersey and began his career as a journalist, serving as one of the first editors of 'Talk of the Town' at The New Yorker magazine.

His first produced play was Don't Tell George (1928); he also wrote the book for the stage musical Gay Divorce. Taylor began screenwriting for films in 1930, with credits including The Gay Divorcee (1934), Top Hat (1935) and Follow the Fleet (1936). He later wrote for television, including episodes of The Thin Man and Batman, and the pilot for The Loretta Young Show (1953). A founding member of the Writers Guild of America, West, he served one term as its president.
