E. Arthur Kean (1928–2023) was an American television writer, producer and occasional director. He began writing for series in the mid-1960s, contributing episodes to *The Fugitive* (1966).

Kean wrote multiple episodes of *Hawaii Five-O*, *Police Story* (1973–1978) and *Police Woman*. He created, wrote and produced the series *Heart of the City* (1986–1987). His television films include screenplays for *Mae West* (1982), *Rita Hayworth: The Love Goddess* (1983) and *Crash: The Mystery of Flight 1501* (1990), and he wrote the feature *Murph the Surf* (1975). He also directed episodes and was credited as Alan Smithee on at least one television project.
