Ed Williams was an American actor and comedian. Born Edwin Wallace Williams in San Jose, California, on 26 November 1926, he worked as a broadcasting and speech teacher at Los Angeles City College before retiring and beginning a second career in acting.

He was best known for playing lab scientist Ted Olsen in the television series *Police Squad!* (1982) and reprising the role in the *Naked Gun* film trilogy: *The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!* (1988), *The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear* (1991) and *Naked Gun 33⅓: The Final Insult* (1994). He also appeared in films including *Father of the Bride* (1991) as a reverend and *Carnosaur* (1993). Williams died in Los Angeles on 2 October 2025, aged 98.
