## Biography

Eddie Ryder (23 January 1923 – 29 March 1997) was an American actor, writer and television director. He appeared in more than 90 films and television programmes between 1953 and 1987, beginning with roles on series such as *Space Patrol* and *Adventures of Superman*. His film credits include the part of Ed in *The Country Girl* (1954), as well as appearances in *Hot Rod Girl* (1956), *Kings Go Forth* (1958), *It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World* (1963) and Mel Brooks comedies *Silent Movie* (1976) and *High Anxiety* (1977).

On television he had guest roles in *The Twilight Zone*, *Bewitched*, *Get Smart*, *Mission: Impossible*, *The Andy Griffith Show* and *General Hospital*. Ryder also directed episodes of *Get Smart* and *The Bob Newhart Show*, and the 1979 feature *Up Yours*. He was born in New York City and died in El Paso, Texas.
