## Biography

Edward Bazalgette, also credited as Ed Bazalgette, is a British television director. He began his career as a film editor working on commercials before directing documentaries, including episodes of *Great Britons* and *Seven Wonders of the Industrial World*. He later moved into drama, directing episodes of series including *EastEnders*, *Holby City* and *Vera* (2011).

Bazalgette has directed multiple episodes of *Doctor Who* (2005), including stories in series 9 and 10 and the 2016 Christmas special. His other credits include the opening episodes of *Endeavour* (2013), lead directing on *Poldark*, episodes of *The Last Kingdom* (for which he also served as co-executive producer) and *The Witcher* (2019), and work on *Class* (2016) and *Fate: The Winx Saga* (2021). He is a BAFTA nominee and was previously lead guitarist in the band The Vapors, whose 1980 single "Turning Japanese" was a hit.
