## Biography

Edward E. Paramore Jr. (1895–1956) was an American screenwriter. He wrote the screenplay for *The Bitter Tea of General Yen* (1933), directed by Frank Capra and based on the novel by Grace Zaring Stone.

Paramore began writing for the stage, co-authoring the 1929 Broadway play *Ringside* with George Abbott and Hyatt Daab; it was adapted into the film *Night Parade*. He worked as a staff screenwriter at Paramount and contributed to films including *Baby Take a Bow* (1934), *Three Comrades* (1938) and *Man of Conquest* (1939). He was one of the founders of the Screen Actors Guild and retired from screenwriting in 1943.

He died in Shreveport, Louisiana, from injuries sustained in a parking garage accident.
