Edward M. McDermott was an American film editor active from the silent era into the early sound period. Born on 15 January 1896 in Green River, Wyoming, he worked on numerous productions, many for First National and Warner Bros.

His credits include *Daddy-Long-Legs* (1919), *The Hoodlum* (1919), *Through the Back Door* (1921), *Joanna* (1925) and several William A. Wellman films such as *Other Men’s Women* (1931). He is best known for editing *The Public Enemy* (1931) and *Night Nurse* (1931). McDermott died on 19 October 1931.
