Peil and Edward Peel) was an American actor. Born on 18 January 1883 in Racine, Wisconsin, he attended the University of Notre Dame, where he studied dramatics, before working in theatre and entering films. He appeared in more than 370 films between 1913 and 1951, including an early credited role as Evil Eye in *Broken Blossoms or The Yellow Man and the Girl* (1919). In later decades he took numerous uncredited parts, among them a villager in *Bride of Frankenstein* (1935), a guard in *The Lady from Shanghai* (1947), and a neighbour in *You Can't Take It with You* (1938). Peil died on 29 December 1958 in Hollywood, California.
