## Biography

Edward Ward was an American film composer and music director. He trained at the Beethoven Conservatory in St Louis and worked in Hollywood, primarily at MGM from 1935 to 1940, United Artists from 1940 to 1943 and Universal from 1943 to 1945. He is also credited as Eddie Ward.

Ward received seven Academy Award nominations. His credits include the music for *San Francisco* (1936), *After the Thin Man* (1936), *The Women* (1939), *Phantom of the Opera* (1943) and *It Happened on Fifth Avenue* (1947). He later held an executive position in Hollywood and conducted for the stage, including on Broadway.
