## Biography

Eileen Crowe was an Irish actress. Born Alice Izabella Crowe in Dublin in 1899, she trained at the Abbey School of Acting and joined the Abbey Theatre company in 1921, remaining with it until 1970.

She appeared in numerous stage productions, including works by Teresa Deevy and Sean O'Casey, and made her film debut in the 1930s. Her screen credits include *The Plough and the Stars* (1936), *The Quiet Man* (1952) as Mrs. Elizabeth Playfair, *Home Is the Hero* (1959) and *Girl with Green Eyes* (1964).

Crowe was married to the actor F. J. McCormick. She died in Dublin in 1978.
