## Biography

Eileen Erskine was an English actress born in Nottingham. She appeared in several British films of the 1940s, including as Vi in *This Happy Breed* (1944), Mrs Hilda Parsons in *The Way Ahead* (1944), and Biddy in *Great Expectations* (1946).

Her stage work included the original West End production of J. B. Priestley's *Time and the Conways* in 1937, and she appeared on Broadway in *Faithfully Yours* in 1951. She was married to actor Philip Friend from 1941 until his death in 1987. Erskine also had television roles, such as in BBC's *The Pallisers* (1974), and her autobiography *Scenes from a Life* was published posthumously.
