## Biography

Eileen Essell (8 October 1922 – 15 February 2015) was an English actress. She began her screen career in her late seventies, after a stage career in the 1940s and 1950s and a long period working as a teacher at the Central School of Music and Drama and City University.

Essell returned to the stage in 1999 and made her screen debut in an episode of *Doctors*. Her film roles include Mrs Hugh in *Ali G Indahouse* (2002), Mrs Connelly in *Duplex* (2003), Mrs Snow in *Finding Neverland* (2004), Grandma Josephine in *Charlie and the Chocolate Factory* (2005) and Hold Me-Touch Me in *The Producers* (2005). She also appeared in television series including *Hustle*, *Torchwood* and *Law & Order: UK*.
