## Biography

Eizo Kaimai (開米 栄三, also credited as Kaimai Eizō or Cho-san) was a Japanese modeler and costume designer. He began working for Toho in 1954 on the original *Godzilla*, contributing to suit construction, and continued on subsequent entries in the series including *Godzilla Raids Again* (1955), *King Kong vs. Godzilla* (1962), *Mothra vs. Godzilla* (1964) and *Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster* (1964).

Kaimai left Toho in 1966 to establish Kaimai Productions. He later provided modeling work for Daiei’s Gamera films and Tsuburaya Productions’ television series, notably the *Ultraman* franchise through the early 1980s. He was born in Tokyo in 1929 and died there on 24 April 2020.
