## Biography

Emile Boreo (1885–1951) was a Polish-born American actor who worked in theatre, vaudeville and film. He achieved success on Broadway in the 1920s in revues including *Chauve-Souris* and *Parade of the Wooden Soldiers*, and appeared in other stage productions such as *The Fifth Column* (1940).

His film roles included Luigi in *The Street Singer* (1937) and Henry in *Carnegie Hall* (1947). He is best known for playing the hotel manager Boris in Alfred Hitchcock’s *The Lady Vanishes* (1938). Boreo died in New York City on 27 July 1951.
