## Biography

Emilia di Girolamo is a British television screenwriter, showrunner and executive producer of Anglo-Indian and Italian heritage. She holds a first-class degree in Drama from Middlesex University and a PhD on the use of drama-based techniques in the rehabilitation of offenders, work that included several years in UK prisons. She has also written plays, a novel (*Freaky*, 1999) and articles for *The Guardian*.

Di Girolamo began her television career writing episodes of *EastEnders* (2008–2010). She contributed multiple episodes to *Law & Order: UK* (2009–2013), serving as lead writer and co-producer on later series. Subsequent credits include *Medici: Masters of Florence* (2016), *The Tunnel: Vengeance* (2017–2018, as showrunner), the miniseries *Deceit* (2021) and *Three Pines* (2022, as creator, head writer and executive producer). She also adapted *The Poison Tree* for television (2012).
