## Biography

Emily Ballou is an Australian-American screenwriter, novelist and poet. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she studied film and English at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and completed a Master of Letters in Gender and Cultural Studies at the University of Sydney before immigrating to Australia. She now lives in Glasgow, Scotland.

She wrote episodes of the Australian mini-series *The Slap* (2011), which won an AWGIE Award, as well as episodes of *Humans* (2015), *Scott & Bailey* (2014), *Case Histories* (2013) and *Becoming Elizabeth* (2022). Her other screen credits include the anthology film *The Turning* (2013) and the television film *American Blackout* (2013). She created and wrote the series *One Night* (2023).
