## Biography

Hirohito (29 April 1901 – 7 January 1989), posthumously known as Emperor Shōwa, was the 124th emperor of Japan. He reigned from 1926 until his death and appears as himself in documentary footage of major public events.

His credited film appearance is as Self in the 1965 documentary *Tokyo Olympiad*, which records the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. He is also featured in archive footage in later productions including *Greatest Events of World War II in Colour* (2019), *Hiroshima* (2005) and *Mifune: The Last Samurai* (2016).
