## Biography

Enrique García Álvarez (1896–1971) was a Spanish actor. Born in Sama de Langreo, Asturias, he began his stage career in 1922. After the Spanish Civil War he went into exile in Mexico, where he made his film debut in 1940 and appeared in more than a hundred productions.

He worked with Luis Buñuel on several films, including *The Exterminating Angel* (1962), in which he played Alberto Roc, and *Simon of the Desert* (1965). He also appeared in *Even the Wind Is Afraid* (1968) and received the Diosa de Plata award for his role in *The Exterminating Angel*. He was married to Carmen Collado and died in Valencia.
