## Biography

Eraldo Da Roma, born Eraldo Judiconi, was an Italian film editor. He began his career in the 1930s after an early attempt at singing as a tenor, working first as an assistant cameraman before editing his first films in the mid-1930s.

He became known as a leading editor of Italian neorealism through his work with Roberto Rossellini and Vittorio De Sica on films including *Rome, Open City* (1945), *Paisan* (1946), *Germany, Year Zero* (1948) and *Bicycle Thieves* (1948). Later credits include Michelangelo Antonioni’s *L’Avventura* (1960), *La Notte* (1961), *L’Eclisse* (1962) and *Red Desert* (1964). He edited more than 130 films over a career spanning nearly four decades.

Da Roma was the uncle of film editor Nino Baragli. He died in Rome in 1981.
