## Biography

Eric Bercovici was an American television and film screenwriter and producer. Born in New York City, he was the son of screenwriter Leonardo Bercovici and studied theatre at Yale University. After his father was blacklisted, he worked on films in Europe before returning to the United States in 1965.

Bercovici wrote episodes of series including *The Man from U.N.C.L.E.*, *I Spy* and *Mission: Impossible* (1966). His screenplays for feature films include *Hell in the Pacific* (1968) and *The Culpepper Cattle Co.* (1972). He created series such as *Assignment Vienna* (1972) and wrote for *Hawaii Five-O* (1969).

He adapted and produced the miniseries *Shōgun* (1980) and *Washington: Behind Closed Doors* (1977). *Shōgun* earned him an Emmy Award as producer. Later credits include the miniseries *Noble House* (1988).
