Eric Close is an American actor and director. Born on 24 May 1967 in Staten Island, New York, he graduated with a B.A. in communications from the University of Southern California in 1989. He began his career with stage work and early film and television roles, including appearances in *American Me* (1992) and the soap opera *Santa Barbara*.

Close is known for his television roles as Martin Fitzgerald in *Without a Trace* (2002–2009), Michael Wiseman in *Now and Again* (1999–2000), Teddy Conrad in *Nashville* (2012–2018), and Travis Tanner in *Suits* (2011–2015). He has also appeared in films such as *American Sniper* (2014) and directed episodes of *Nashville* and *Without a Trace*, as well as several Hallmark television movies.
